Fernando M. Maia

Fernando Manuel Maia, 62, died on September 14, 2021 at Shand’s UF in Gainesville, FL. He was born into this life on November 17, 1958 in Terceira, Azores, Portugal. He was the son to the late Fernando Pinheiro Maia and Maria Benilde(DaSilva). Fernando grew up in the Azores and when he was in high school his family decided to move to Ocala, FL. He worked for Classic Mile Farm off of Hwy 40 and then became self-employed as a Leather Craftsman. He did work for several places in Ocala including the Quarter Pole, Tack Shack and Hamilton Products. He was Catholic by faith, and in his leisure time he enjoyed golfing, fishing, watching soccer and riding his motorcycle. He will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends.

He leaves behind his three daughters, Rita Hodge (Jason), West Virginia, Jessica Maia (Ivan Torres), Winter Garden, FL, and Fernanda Maia (Gregory Mendoza), Ocala, FL; his one brother, Luis Maia, Ocala, FL; his one sister, Elia Maia, Ocala, FL and his five grandchildren, Kyle Hodge, Jordan Hodge, Ryan Hodge, Kinley Willard and Damon Torres.
