James "Larry" Laurence Craggs

James Laurence “Larry” Craggs, age 63, of Ocala, Florida, passed away on September 30, 2025. Born on February 2, 1962, in Ocala to Thomas and Phyllis Craggs, Larry grew up with an avid love of the outdoors and a reputation of kindness and integrity. After graduating from the University of Central Florida, he joined the family business, Craggs Construction Company, where he built a long and successful career as a highway contractor. Working first alongside his father and brother, and later with his son Laurence, Larry took great pride in continuing a family legacy that has spanned more than a century. In 1994, Larry married Ann Melinda Parker, and together they created a home filled with love, laughter, and tradition. They raised two sons, Laurence Clayton and Michael Parker, and shared countless family memories. Some of Larry’s happiest moments were spent outdoors on the water; fishing, or out hunting, especially when he could share those experiences with his sons and friends. Passing on the skills and passions he cherished was one of his greatest joys. Larry is survived by his wife of 31 years, Ann Melinda; his children, Laurence (Natasha) and Michael; his mother, Phyllis, and his brother, Tommy (Lynn) Craggs Jr. and his nephews, T.J., Conner (Katie) and Lex (Briana).  He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Joseph Craggs, Sr. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 5, at 4:00 p.m. at Redeemer Christian School gymnasium at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church in Ocala, with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Redeemer Christian School in Larry’s memory. Larry will be remembered for his devotion to family, his integrity, and the way he made others feel welcomed and valued. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
