Jeannie Connell Obituary

Jeannine (Zerba) Connell of Inglis, Florida passed away April 29, 2022.

She was born in Athena, Oregon, December 18, 1928.  Jeannine was a graduate of Washington State University in Pullman, Washington where she studied music and met her future husband. Jeannine married George Connell on June 15, 1952.  They eventually moved to Fort Detrick, Maryland where she taught school in Thurmont, Maryland.

In 1954 they moved to Pine Bluff, Arkansas where she started a career with the CDC and enjoyed and raved about the bass fishing.  From there they were transferred to Atlanta, Georgia in 1958 and lived in Decatur, Georgia. They then moved to Lake Lanier in Gainesville, Georgia where they lived for 10 years. She loved the fishing and growing beautiful azaleas and blueberries.

In 1978 they retired and moved to Inglis, Florida.  Jeannine’s love of music and gardening continued and she worked with the Community Concert Association, was a member of the Inglis-Yankeetown Garden Club and WAR.  Jeannine’s strong belief in giving back led her to volunteer at hospice, Seven Rivers hospital and the Citrus School reading program.

Anyone who knew Jeannine knew her love of animals, her ability to name any flower or plant and her ability to organize any mess.

Jeannine is preceded in death by her husband Dr. George Connell of 60 years, her brothers Bob and Elwayne Zerba and nephew Ron Zerba.  She is survived by her nephew Dennis Zerba and his wife Claudia and her niece Debbie Hallander and husband Doug, nephews David and Tim Zerba and their wives plus many friends near and far.
