Lloyd Dean “L.D.” Herlocker, 85, of Dunnellon, FL, entered into the arms of the Lord on Saturday, October 26, 2019 after a hard fought battle with Alpha-1 Deficiency. Lloyd was born at home on September 10, 1934 to his parents, Leo Dean and Gladys Geraldine (Cox) Herlocker in Girard, KS. He served in the US Army and later attended college. He was an accomplished Communications Engineer, having an integral role in establishing the communication sites along the Alaskan pipeline. He worked for the following companies during his lifetime; Frisco Railroad, McDonell-Douglas, RCA and Bechtel. He enjoyed golfing, woodworking, spending time with his family, playing Bridge and was a member of the Kiwanis Club. Lloyd was an adventurer. He loved to travel, spending time in Russia, Syria and even traveled the US in an RV with his wife, Monique until they settled in Dunnellon, FL in the late 1990’s, moving from from South Ryegate, VT. They attended church at the First United Methodist Church of Dunnellon. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
Lloyd is survived by his wife; Monique P. Herlocker, sister; Ina Rose Murdock, daughters, Terri Goodwin, Sandra Prue, stepdaughter; Cherie Frost, stepson; Marcus Rodin, grandchildren; Mallory Byrd, Dalton Peters, Hailey Allais, Mallory Bird, Kelsey Frost, great- grandchildren; Tennyson Byrd, Avalyn Byrd, and Ethan Bird.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother; Lawrence Herlocker.
A memorial service is being held on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at 10:00 am at Robert’s Funeral Home of Dunnellon, 19939 E. Pennsylvania Avenue, Dunnellon, FL 34430, with Chaplain Herb from Legacy House Hospice of Marion County presiding. In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial contributions to be made in Lloyd’s name to: Alpha-1 Foundation.
