Lucia Perez-Rodriguez

Dunnellon- Lucia Perez-Rodriguez, 84, a loving wife to, Peter Rodriguez, died on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at West Marion Community Hospital in Ocala, FL. She was born on October 26, 1936 in Gurabo, Puerto Rico. Lucy grew up and went to nursing school in Puerto Rico where she received her degree and became a Registered Nurse. She worked in Puerto Rico for a short while and then moved to Bronx, New York with her children, Iris and Bruno. While Lucy was in New York she worked for Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx and then midway through her career transferred to a hospital in Manhattan, NY. During that time she also was a visiting nurse and she was taking care of one her patients who happened to be Peter’s good friend. As time went on Peter started to really like her and they dated and eventually got married twenty six years ago in New York. In 2001 Peter and Lucy moved to Dunnellon from New York and made their home in Rainbow Lakes Estates. She officially retired but had the desire to get back into nursing, so she became a school nurse in Wildwood, FL and loved every bit of helping kids. Lucy was a former parishioner of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Beverly Hills, FL and in 2016 became a parishioner at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Dunnellon attending the Spanish Mass. Lucy enjoyed playing dominoes and was part of a dominoes club in Rainbow Lakes Estates and loved Spanish music and dancing to Bachata, Salsa and Merengue. Lucy enjoyed this life to the fullest and now she is truly enjoying her life evermore with her heavenly father, as Peter would say, SHE’S MUST BE DANCING WITH JESUS.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Iris Velez.

She leaves behind her husband of twenty six years, Peter Rodriguez, Dunnellon; her son Jorge “Bruno” Velez; her brother, Ditmas Perez; her sisters, Sophia Perez and Antonia Perez and her four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
