Margaret Knight Obituary

Margaret “Peggy” Imogene Robinson Knight

May 9, 1928 - September 15, 2023

Margaret Imogene Knight, affectionately called Peggy, a cherished pillar of her community, passed away on September 15, 2023, at the age of 95. Born and raised in Levy County, Florida, to proud parents Mary Luvenia Manning and Cass Elliot Robinson, Margaret was a shining gem in their lives and in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Margaret’s legacy lives on through her loving children, Shannon (Michael) Roth and Susan Knight, her cherished grandchildren, Cass (Peter) Retz, Tate (Anna) Roth, Todd (Dana) Barrett, and Molly Ohlinger, and her adored great-grandchildren, Olivia Retz, Riggs Retz, Adeline Roth, Wade Roth, Spencer Barrett, Caroline Barrett, Carter Barrett, Margaret Barrett, Falon Elliot, Joshua Goodman, Aidan Ohlinger, Colby Workman, and Franklin Eldon.

Peggy’s life was a testament to the enduring values of her family's cattle-raising heritage. She carried with her the lessons of hard work, dedication, and a profound connection to the land. Her journey led her to the halls of Florida Southern College, where she nurtured her thirst for knowledge, embodying the spirit of lifelong learning.

As a devoted homemaker, Peggy created a haven of love and warmth for her family. Her nurturing embrace, delicious home-cooked meals, and boundless affection were the cornerstones of her loving home. Beyond her role as a homemaker, Peggy served as a dedicated school teacher, shaping young minds with her wisdom, compassion, and unwavering belief in the potential of her students.

Peggy’s heart was forever entwined with the beauty of the land, the wonders of nature, and the vibrant hues of flowers. She found solace in the simple joys of life's wonders and shared her appreciation with all who knew her.

Her love for music and her dear husband, Lonnie Eugene Knight, led them to create the Withlacoochee Bluegrass Festival, a treasured event that united their community in celebration of music, friendship, and shared passion. Lonnie's passing in 2007 left a void that Peggy bravely filled, carrying their legacy forward.

Margaret “Peggy” Imogene Robinson Knight was a beacon of love, kindness, and grace. Her memory will forever shine brightly in the hearts of all who were touched by her presence. Peggy’s life was a testament to the boundless impact one person can have on the world, and she will be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the Cure Alzheimer's Fund (www.curealz.org) in her honor.
