Melinda Ann Fernandez, 77, entered into rest in the early morning hours on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 while under the care of hospice at the Legacy House in Ocala, FL. She was born into this life on August 22, 1943 in Long Island, NY and was the daughter to the late Henry and Louise Hahn. Melinda moved to Florida in 1975. She started working as a Real Estate Broker in 1980 with Dunnellon Real Estate and was the owner of the Buckhorn Bar from 1981 until 1988. In 2009 Melinda retired with Dunnellon Real Estate. She enjoyed volunteering her time serving the Dunnellon Community with the Historical Society and the City Council. Melinda will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Manuel C. Fernandez, MD in 2013.
Her survivors include her children, Keith Tietjen (Kim), Jimmy Dugan (Debbe) and Richard Fernandez (Anne); her brother, Eric Hahn (Darlene); her grandchildren, Sean Kelley (Jacqueline), Ryan Tietjen (Caitlin), Brandie Kirkwood (Dylan), Kalie Kirkwood, Krystalyn Dugan, James Dugan, Kelley Fernandez (Pierre), Christopher Fernandez (Kristin) and Katie Fernandez; her great grandchildren, Lowreigh, Lawson, Olivia and one on the way who will be Kennedy.
There will be a public viewing at Roberts Funeral Home in Dunnellon on Sunday, May 3, 2020 from 1-3 PM. Funeral services will be private for the family. Due to the restrictions on the COVID-19 we are strongly enforcing groups to be limited and practicing social distancing.
