Roger Allen Thurston, a resident of Citrus Springs, FL, unexpectedly at the age of 81, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday September 16, 2020 in Citrus Springs, FL.
He was born on January 11th, 1939 in Madison, WI to his Mother Ida (Kolve) Thurston and Father Ellsworth E. Thurston and Step Father Harvey Christianson.
At the age of 17, Roger proudly joined the US Air force to serve for his country. Afterwards, he continued his passion working with airplanes as a civilian. He was an airplane electrician and worked at National Airlines, Air operations, and then later retired from the Charleston Airforce base in South Carolina.
He was married to the love of his life- Dawn Thurston for 50 years before her passing and had three wonderful children. Roger enjoyed being part of the church community, meeting new people, and serving the Lord.
After retiring, Roger moved to FL to be closer to his brother in law, Stanley Cochran and wife Alina Cochran. This is when he found his hobbies of fixing up antique clocks, enjoying wood working in his garage and going camping in his RV.
Roger precedes his wife, Dawn (Cochran) Thurston, his parents, his son Rodney Thurston and his brother Gerald Thurston. He leaves behind his Daughter, Charlene (Thurston) Ciminero and husband John Ciminero of Colorado, son Glenn Thurston of Florida, sister Mary Zerves, sister Ann Schroeder and sister Etheleen Williamson, as well as three grandchildren, Amber, Tiffani, and Michael and a great grandson.
The world lost an amazing father, brother and grandfather.
May you rest in peace! We will always love you and forever miss you.
Roger will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Services will be announced at a later date..
