Sherlyn “Sherri” Woodstuff of Dunnellon, FL, at the age of 73, entered peacefully into the arms of Jesus on November 7, 2023, at Cates House Hospice in Ocala. Born in Winchester, VA on November 12, 1949, moved to St Petersburg, FL in 1962. She is preceded in death by her mother, Betty Ashmead, brothers Gregory Hankins, Eugene Cochran, Jr and sister Kay Nichols. Sherri is survived by her husband John Woodstuff, children Scott (Sandy) Woodstuff, Jennifer (Clem) Hernandez, and Marc (Rachael) Woodstuff, Sister-in-Law Joyce Akridge and Kathy Turner and brother Jerry Wayne Taylor. Sherri was also blessed with 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, many treasured cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was an active leader at the First Methodist Church of Dunnellon, where she served as a Lay Minister for many years, during her service she led others on the same path of ministry. Sherri, a retired teacher from Marion County Schools, influenced the lives of all the children she encountered. She was also a devoted wife to her high school sweetheart for 53 years. She saw him in the church choir at the age of 14 and said, “He is mine.” She is responsible for the fact that John has all of his fingers to this day. She was a determined woman that achieved her goals and didn’t let anything stand in her way. As a mother there was no greater joy than seeing her children achieve success. At the young age of 70 she discovered her love for embroidery and was happiest making gifts for her friends and family. Although she was called to the Lord too early, her ministry on Earth will continue to be felt by all that knew her.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 2PM at The First Methodist Church of Dunnellon, 21501 W Hwy 40, Dunnellon. Sherri would be thrilled if you would attend in purple or lavender attire. She had a love/hate relationship with flowers, the family would ask that in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her honor to the Michelle-O Gram-Foundation, https://www.michelleogram.com/donate .
