Susan L. Wright passed away on February 16, 2024. Susan was born in Upland, Indiana in 1943, where she enjoyed a traditional small-town childhood and spent her time growing up with her pony, Midnight, and several companions and her cousin, all who have remained lifelong friends. In 1961 she married Ronald K. Wright, her high school sweetheart. Following their marriage, she and Ronnie spent a year in Germany while he was serving in the Army.
Susan loved doing any type of craft and was a talented painter. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and laughing with others. Susan had a diverse and interesting career. She worked in hospital administration in Fort Wayne, Indiana and in Long Beach, California. While living in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, Susan owned and operated a craft shop where she taught classes in a variety of crafting areas and conducted painting classes. Later, following the family’s move to Florida, she worked in the Hernando County school system as a teacher’s assistant in kindergarten and first grade. While living in Tampa, Susan was a purchasing agent for Ashland Chemical and after moving to Dunnellon, she worked as a title agent for First American Title in Ocala. In retirement, Susan and Ronnie enjoyed traveling the country in their Airstream as “full-timers” for six years before returning to settle in Dunnellon.
Susan is survived by Ronnie Wright, her husband of 62 years; Kellean (Paul) Truesdell, her daughter; Alexandria Truesdell, granddaughter; Graham Truesdell, grandson; Grant Truesdell, grandson; Mason Wright, grandson; Amelia Wright, granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Mary (Trout) and Benton Delbert Myer; her brothers, Richard Myer and David Myer; her niece, Debbie (Myer) Meyer; and her son (in 2021), Chadwick Byron Benton Wright.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 16, at the First Methodist Church, 21501 W. Highway 40, Dunnellon at 1 P.M.
