Wanda Cox Obituary

Our beloved, Wanda June Cox, born on June 6, 1941, in West Union, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on September 3, 2022 at the age of 81. She was preceded in death by her parents Donald E. Eads and Margaret K. Eads; her sister, Donna K. Rivers; and her husband, Gary M. Cox.

Wanda spent her childhood years in Manchester, Ohio where she also met and married Gary M. Cox on June 12, 1959.

She worked many jobs in her lifetime. She started working as a cosmetologist in the early 1960’s in her own shop. Wanda eventually sold the business and became a librarian’s assistant at Fairborn High School in Fairborn, Ohio. The family moved to Beavercreek, Ohio in the early 1970’s where she was a stay- at- home mom for her three children. Her final employment in Ohio was as a front desk receptionist at the Cincinnati Enquirer Newspaper. Warm weather brought the family to Seminole, FL in 1978. Wanda quickly found employment with Honeywell in Clearwater, FL. She retired from Honeywell in 1997 to move to Dunnellon, FL. Since she wasn’t ready to be retired, she found employment with Dr. Wm. Dane Myers where she worked for 20 years. Wanda finally ended her working years at the age of 77.

Her greatest joy was preparing a holiday meal for her entire family and would insist on doing it every year. She enjoyed baking, sewing, knitting, gardening, walking, Bible study, and decorating her home.

Wanda loved her neighbors dearly and always enjoyed bringing them a homemade baked good or helping them whenever needed.

She was an active member of the First Methodist Church of Dunnellon where she served as an usher.  She loved Jesus and was looking forward to being with Him.

Wanda is survived by her sister, Karen D. Eads of Union, Kentucky; her children, Colleen. R. Buettner (Richard), Jason A. Cox (Liz), and Melanie R. Green (Keith); her grandchildren, Amber K. Von Leue (Ken), Jesse L. Buettner (Jessie), Cody C. Buettner, Connor J. Green, Kyle W. Green, Dalton A. Cox (Megan), and Travis D. Cox; her great grandchildren, Shyla A. Von Leue, Kenna R. Von Leue, Devlin C. Von Leue, Gracey L. Buettner, Coltin L. Buettner, and Ryder V. Buettner; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions can be made in Wanda’s name to the First Methodist Church of Dunnellon.
