Richard “Rich” L. Osterholz (1943-2020), 77
Rich passed away in the early morning hours of March 16, 2020 after battling complications from congestive heart failure and diabetes.
Born in New York on March 12, 1943, he spent his formative years in Madison, New Jersey. He was a gifted athlete and played baseball throughout High School. Upon graduation in 1961, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force serving until 1965. Upon completion of his service, he moved his young family to Palm Beach County, Florida to begin a long career with Pratt & Whitney. After 40 years, he retired as a Senior Materials Coordinator and moved to Dunnellon, Florida.
Rich loved the outdoors, was an avid golfer, trap shooter, and an excellent cook. When not golfing, he always looked forward to his hunting trips with his buddies. He was a member of Robinson Ranch where he spent many hours with “some of the best people you will ever meet”. Rich enjoyed cooking for all of his friends, sitting back with a scotch, and sharing exaggerated stories of their hunting adventures. He was quick with a joke and the first to lend a hand to a friend in need.
Rich is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dietrich M. Osterholz, and a brother, Robert A. Osterholz. Left behind to cherish his memory are his partner of 38 years, Janice Hudson and her grandson, Ricky Hudson, his two sons, Rick (Donna) Osterholz of Stuart, FL, and Steve (Elizabeth) Osterholz of Mars Hill, NC, two grandsons, Tyler and Zachary Osterholz, a Great Granddaughter, Stella Osterholz, a brother, Peter Osterholz of Oklahoma, and nieces Carrie Collins of PA, and Heather Osterholz of NJ.
Rich will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Private family services were held at Roberts Funeral Home of Dunnellon. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made in Rich’s memory to your favorite charity.
