Roberts Funeral Home of Dunnellon, LLC History
The Roberts family’s commitment to funeral service began in 1898 when C.V. Roberts, a respected leader in the Ocala community, entered the profession from a modest frame building. His dedication laid the foundation for what would become a lasting family legacy. In 1937, C.V. passed the reins to his son, Edgar S. Roberts, who, alongside his wife Sarah Doris Hemphill of Dunnellon, continued serving families with care and compassion through Roberts Funeral Home.
The tradition continued with their son Kenneth, who joined the family business and helped expand its services. In 1963, the family established an ambulance service in Dunnellon, operating out of an old army barracks. A year later, they built the region’s first crematory—North Central Florida’s only one at the time—providing cremation services to funeral homes throughout the area. In 1969, Kenneth and his brother opened Roberts Funeral Home in Dunnellon. Kenneth later became sole owner in 1992, operating the funeral home with his wife Patty until his passing in 2017. Patty and their son Kevin carried the legacy forward until her passing in 2020. Today, Kevin and his wife Karen continue to honor the Roberts name by providing compassionate, professional care to families in Dunnellon, West Marion County, and the surrounding communities.
